Description

DESCRIPTION

An areometer for measuring the concentration of sugar expressed in Balling degrees.
  • For wine, beer and sugar batches - this meter is indispensable for production of these liquors.
  • Shatterproof test tube - it is made of plastic, thanks to which it is shatterproof.
  • The ranges of concentrations recommended are marked with colours - the areometer scale features colour-marked ranged of sugar concentrations appropriate for a given stage of fermentation of wine and beer.
  • Scale from 0 to 29°Blg - this areometer enables a wide range of measurements.
  • Easy measuring - the device is extremely easy to use. The measurement is carried out directly.

Sugar meter is a measuring instrument indispensable when preparing batches for making beer, wine and other liquor at home. By using it, you can quickly and easily measure the sugar content in the liquid examined.

The plastic test tube included with the meter is durable and shatterproof.

The device is calibrated in the temperature of 20°C, which is why it is best to perform measurements in the same conditions.

Reading the measurement is facilitated by the coloured ranges regarding the type of liquor and stage of fermentation described on the scale.

How to use:

Examination of winemaking must

In order to take a measurement it is enough to place the areometer in the test tube and fill it with such an amount of liquid that the floater floats freely, without touching the test tube bottom or walls. The liquid should not contain solid particles or air bubbles. The result is read from the scale on the basis of the upper meniscus. In order to make things easier, the scale features coloured ranges of initial sugar concentrations in must for wines of various type that we may want to obtain:

  • Maroon range (22 - 25°Blg) - dessert wines (sweet),
  • Yellow range (15 - 22°Blg) - table wines (dry)

Please note:

In order for the fermentation to proceed correctly, it is important for the sugar concentration not to exceed 22-25°Blg prior to commencing it.

If you prefer your wines very sweet, add sugar in multiple portions, e.g. on the 1st, 5th and 12th day of fermentation. Wine can also be sweetened after the fermentation is completed.

Examination of beer wort

The measurement of sugar content in beer wort is performed in the same manner as in the case of a wine batch.

On the scale, the range of recommended initial sugar concentrations in beer wort is marked with amber colour (8 - 10°Blg).

The fermentation of beer wort is considered finished once the reading is withing the range marked with green colour (0 - 2°Blg).

The set includes:

  • Floater (areometer) with a sugar concentration scale in °Blg,
  • Test tube (plastic) - for conducting the measurement.
